$2000 in prizes were offered this year, including $500 for Best in Show; $200 for First Prize in the three categories of painting, photography, and sculpture/craft and $100 for Second Prize in each of these groups.
The judges were Caren Michel and Mary Brooking from Westbrook and Jay York from Portland.
Caren Michel is a contemporary landscape painter. Her work has been selected for juried shows in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Colorado and Washington. In Maine, Michel’s work has been exhibited at Bates College Museum of Art, Aucocisco Galleries, Atrium Gallery at USM-LA, Carver Hill Gallery, The Jameson Gallery, North Light Gallery, Littlefield Gallery and the College of the Atlantic.
Jay York is a photographer of fine art in Portland, Maine. His love of art and artists and his family ties to Norway bring him to our festival this year.
Mary Brooking also has an attachment to Norway. She is a painter, a teacher and the owner of Continuum for Creativity in Westbrook. Mary’s a former member of the Commons Art Collective and her art will be in Café Nomad for the month of July.
